My Process

Phase 1: Discovery & Strategy

INITIAL CONSULTATION

The first step is a conversation to get to know a business. The discussion centers on business goals, the target audience, and what is hoped to be achieved with a new website. I ask for any Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to define what success looks like for the project.

BRANDING & CONTENT ASSESSMENT

I take a deep dive into the existing brand. If a brand guide, logo, and other assets exist, I review them to understand the identity. If not, we can discuss creating these elements. I also assess the content, helping to figure out what written copy, photos, and videos are needed for the site.

VISUAL INSPIRATION

To ensure creative alignment, I create a mood board. This visual guide captures the aesthetic, color palettes, and overall feel of the brand. This step is crucial for establishing the design direction before creating any actual layouts.

Phase 2: Planning & Structure

CRAFTING THE SITEMAP & USER FLOW

Based on our conversations, I create a sitemap to outline the structure of the website. This map breaks down all the necessary pages and shows how they’ll connect. I also define the user journey, the path visitors will take to navigate the site and find the information they need.

WIREFRAMING & PROTOTYPING

With the structure in place, I create wireframes of each key page. Think of these as the blueprint for the website; they focus on the layout and functionality without any of the final design elements. I often create an interactive prototype using software like Figma or Adobe XD so the user can click through and experience the user flow firsthand.

Phase 3: Design & Development

HIGH-FIDELITY MOCKUPS & UI DESIGN

This is where I bring the wireframes to life. I create high-fidelity mockups of the website, applying the colors, typography, and imagery from our mood board. I design for a seamless user interface (UI) on all devices, from desktop to mobile, to ensure a beautiful and intuitive experience for every visitor.

DEVELOPMENT & ACCESSIBILITY

I begin building the website, writing clean, efficient code. From the start, I integrate SEO best practices to help the site rank well in search engines. I also prioritize ADA compliance, ensuring the site is accessible to all users, regardless of ability.

Phase 4: Testing & Launch

RIGOROUS TESTING & QUALITY ASSURANCE

Before going live, I conduct extensive testing. I check every link, form, and button to ensure everything works perfectly. I also test the site on different web browsers and devices to make sure the design and functionality are consistent across the board.

TIME TO LAUNCH

Once I have final approval, we launch the website. I handle all the technical details to get the new site online.

Phase 5: Post-Launch & Optimization

ONGOING MONITORING & REFINEMENT

My work doesn’t end at launch. I set up tools like Google Analytics to monitor the site’s performance. By tracking user behavior and key metrics, I can identify opportunities for improvement. We analyze this data together to refine the user experience, making sure the website continues to meet its business goals.
