Pinnacle Living

Pinnacle Living, a not-for-profit and faith-inspired organization, operates five senior living communities across Virginia, including locations in Arlington, Williamsburg, Roanoke, and two in Richmond. With a commitment to providing exceptional care and support, Pinnacle Living recognized the need for a more cohesive design that would unify its diverse facilities and strengthen its brand identity.

To address this challenge, Pinnacle Living requested assistance to create a consistent look and feel across all five communities. Our collaboration focused on developing a comprehensive design strategy that resonated with the organization’s values while appealing to residents and their families.

We began by establishing cohesive brand guidelines that would serve as a foundation for all visual and communicative elements. This included creating tailored collateral that not only reflected the unique character of each community but also reinforced the overarching brand message. From brochures to signage and marketing materials, we ensured that every touchpoint conveyed a unified and inviting experience.

Prior to 2020, each of Pinnacle Living’s communities managed their own branded materials, which led to inconsistencies despite existing brand guidelines. As all five communities were actively promoting the rebrand from United Methodist Homes to Pinnacle Living, these inconsistencies created a challenge. I was tasked with overseeing brand consistency across the communities to increase the perception that they all fell under the new Pinnacle Living brand and to boost awareness of the rebrand.

My work began by launching a multi-channel campaign focused on the “life’s journey” narrative from Pinnacle Living’s new tagline: “Enriching Life’s Journey.” I helped roll out this campaign through a new TV spot, a redesign of the community websites, and consistent design elements across print, digital, and social ads. I also helped create new standards for using the branding in different settings, such as flipping the colors for newspaper print ads to improve legibility.

The campaign successfully established brand consistency across the communities. The new brand standards have carried through to all promotional assets, even as new campaigns have launched. In just a couple of months, the promotional assets no longer clashed between communities. The brand consistency created a sense that all five communities belong together while still allowing each to highlight what makes them unique.
